Summertime. Time to relax and unwind.

Outdoor movie screenings are a great way to take advantage of the warm summer nights and enjoy the great outdoors.

The greater Los Angeles area has a wide variety of places, including neighborhood parks, beaches and rooftops offering fun selections of films for everyone to enjoy. And most are free of charge. So, grab the popcorn, blankets and beach chairs and sit back, relax and enjoy the show! Here are some of the top L.A. spots to watch outdoor movies this summer.

Beach Movie Nights

Relax on the sand and enjoy free family-friendly movies on Fridays through Aug. 31. Food trucks and other snacks available. Movies play at 8 p.m.

Moonlight Movies on the Beach

Kick back on the beach while watching a movie at this free event. There is plenty of free parking, food trucks and snack shops. Runs through Aug. 21.

Movies on the Green

The Valley Cultural Center hosts it annual outdoor movie event. The family-friendly films begin at dusk and there is a full concession stand available. 8 p.m. Saturdays starting July 21 – Aug. 18. Movies are free.

Rooftop Cinema Club

Enjoy a movie with a view. Relax in a comfortable deck chair with wireless headphones while watching a film on a rooftop at two locations in L.A.

San Fernando Valley Summer Drive-In Movie Nights

Bring your car for a screening of movies filmed in the San Fernando Valley and around. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. With pre-show entertainment featuring special guest appearances. Movie screenings begin at 8:30 p.m.

Eat See Hear

Outdoor movie event features food trucks and live music. Dogs are welcome and given treats, biscuits and water bowls at the venue. The outdoor movie series changes runs Saturdays through Sept. 15 and changes locations around Los Angeles every week so check website for details.

Family Movie Fridays

The city of Sierra Madre Community Services Department hosts its annual outdoor movie series.  Food and drinks available for purchase. 8 p.m. Fridays through Aug. 17.
