Outdoor movie screenings are a great way to take advantage of the warm summer nights and enjoy the great outdoors.

The greater Los Angeles area has a wide variety of places, including neighborhood parks, beaches and rooftops offering fun selections of films for everyone to enjoy. And most are free of charge.

So, grab the popcorn, blankets and beach chairs and sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

Here are some of the top L.A. spots to watch outdoor movies this summer.

Friday Night Flicks Pershing Square

The Friday night event in Pershing Square features free outdoor movies shown on a 20-foot inflatable screen.

The series this year features the best of ’80s films. Movies begin at dusk. The series runs through Aug. 17. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Silver Lake Picture Show

The free summer outdoor film series screens movies every Thursday evenings through Sept. 13.

Magnolia Park Movie Nights

Magnolia Park hosts its movie nights. Pre-show entertainment starts at 7 p.m. and includes food trucks, popcorn and trivia contests, movie starts at 8 p.m.

Street Food Cinema

L.A.’s largest outdoor movie screening series offers a wide-range of movies, food trucks and live music before the film. Held In different locations around held Saturdays. Most of the movies at Exposition Park. Other downtown locations include Grand Park and Los Angeles State Historic Park. Through Sept. 1.


Old Pasadena Summer Cinema

The annual summer film fest offers a variety of movies on Friday and Saturday nights at various locations in Old Pasadena. Pre-activities with a DJ and free treats start at 6:30 p.m., with movies starting at 8:30 p.m. Runs through July 28.

Arcadia Movies in the Park

Movies in the Park held on Friday evenings with games and activities starting at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn between City Hall and the police department. Hot food, snacks and drinks available for purchase. Movie begins at dusk.

The city of Monterey Park hosts free family-friendly movie screenings this summer. Movies begin at sunset. Free popcorn provided.
