LAKEWOOD (CNS) – A man was killed and a woman was injured early this morning in a house fire in Lakewood.
The man’s body was charred, according to Lt. Dave Smith of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Arson investigators are looking into what caused the deadly blaze, which was reported at 1:30 a.m. on the 19000 block of Corby Avenue, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The flames were knocked down 35 minutes later by 30 firefighters at the single-family home, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was taken to a hospital but her condition was not available, Schrader said.
