Carolina Garcia is the award-winning former editor of the Los Angeles Daily News. She is currently teaching journalism at USC and is the editor of a bi-weekly publication, The Hub, which writes for and about millennials in Los Angeles. Carolina spent 33 years in the news media, more than 25 of them as an editor and manager at several newspapers across the country. She started out as a columnist writing about the Latino community in Milwaukee, WI many years ago when newspapers were discovering the need to cover diverse populations. She rose through the ranks at that wonderful newspaper, eventually becoming the first Latina to head a daily metropolitan newspaper in the country. Carolina served as the 2002 president of the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors; is a lifelong member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists; served as a board of the American Society of Newspaper Editors; is a former board member of the LA Press Club; and was recognized by the California Chicano News Media Association for her work on diversity with ASNE
