At least 10 people died and 10 were injured in a shooting Friday at a school in Texas, authorities said.
The shooter was identified by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, who is in custody. Authorities said he used a shotgun and a .38 caliber revolver owned by his father during the shootout at Santa Fe High School.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said two others are being questioned.
He said the shooter had intended to kill himself after the shooting, according to journals found in Pagourtzis’ car and items on his computer.
It is the 22nd school shooting in the U.S. since the beginning of the year, and the third instance in eight days in which a gunman was on a school campus, CNN reported.
Deeply saddened by yet another sickening act of gun violence against some of our most defenseless members of our community-children. The thoughts and prayers of the #LAPD are with the #SantaFe students, staff, first responders, & community that have been affected by this tragedy.
