Authorities identify young man killed in shooting in Altadena


ALTADENA (CNS) – Authorities today sought public help to solve a shooting in Altadena that left a young man dead and another person wounded.

The crime occurred about 4:40 p.m. Monday in the 2100 Block of Santa Anita Avenue, according to the sheriff’s department.

William Harris IV, 19, of Pasadena died at a hospital, the coroner’s office reported. A second victim, describe only as a male juvenile, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. His name was not released.

“The suspect … was seen shooting at the victims from inside a vehicle,” a sheriff’s statement said. “The vehicle description is unknown, and he was last seen driving southbound on Santa Anita Avenue.”

No suspect description was available. Investigators were unsure of a motive for the crime. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
