Authorities descended on Diamond Ranch High School in Pomona after a social media post depicting a school shooting threat went viral Tuesday evening.

The threat, which circulated on Twitter, came as an image of graffiti in a cafeteria restroom. The graffiti read “school shooting tmrw here at 9 AM 5/25,” and has since been taken down.

In a statement, the Pomona Unified School District said that extra police would be on hand to patrol the school and investigate the threat. District officials also took to Twitter to reassure parents.

”Station detectives are currently investigating the potential threat and are working with the school administration to help ensure the safety and security of students and staff,” Sheriff’s Deputy Charles Moore said. ”We have increased patrols in the area in order to maintain high visibility and presence. In addition, we have dedicated personnel that will remain on the Diamond Ranch High School campus for the duration of the school day.”

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station at (909) 595-2264.
