HOLLYWOOD (CNS) – A man in his 50s died from injuries he suffered in a hit-and-run crash in Hollywood this morning.
Officers responded about 1:30 a.m. to the 7100 block of Sunset Boulevard, west of La Brea Avenue, and found the victim in the road, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A witness told NBC4 the victim “went flying up in the sky” after being struck by the vehicle.
“The (driver) stopped, hesitated, tried to see if he wanted to stop or not and just took off,” witness Victor Rodriguez said.
A good Samaritan was performing CPR on the victim when officers arrived, the LAPD said.
The man died at the scene, NBC4 reported. His name was not disclosed.
A detailed description of the suspect vehicle was not immediately available.
The investigation into the crash prompted the closure of Sunset Boulevard between Alta Vista Boulevard and La Brea Avenue for several hours.
