AZUSA (CNS) – Authorities served search warrants at nine locations across the San Gabriel Valley and arrested several documented gang members they said were tied to killings in the city over the past two years, police said today.
Beginning at 4 a.m. Friday, officers with the Azusa Police Department along with deputies from the Los Angeles county Sheriff’s Department and officers with the Arcadia, Covina, El Monte, Irwindale, Pasadena, Pomona and West Covina police departments carried out the raids, according to Azusa police Lt. Robert Chivas.
“This search warrant lead to the arrest of subjects for the crimes of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and various other violent gang related crimes which occurred within the city of Azusa and the greater Los Angeles County area,” Chivas said.
Many of these crimes were alleged to have been committed by members of the Sentinel Boys 13 criminal street gang, Chivas said.
The arrests were the result of a joint investigation between Azusa police and the sheriff’s department to help solve many ongoing murders in Azusa.
The identities of those arrested or the location of their arrests were not disclosed.
