NORWALK (CNS) – A registered sex offender who pleaded no contest to raping a 16-year-old girl and having unlawful sex with two other teens in Whittier was sentenced today to 11 years in state prison.

Richie Esquivel Corvera, 30, of the Whittier area, pleaded no contest May 17 to one felony count of forcible rape involving a child over 14 and two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.

All of the crimes occurred in Whittier, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The rape charge involved a teen Corvera met at a store, offered to take to a coffee shop and then drove instead to a motel on Oct. 8, 2015, according to Deputy District Attorney Chad Gillette.

The girl did not want to go in the motel room but eventually followed Corvera inside, where he raped her, the prosecutor said.

The other charges involve two teenage girls who were driven to a motel room, where he had sex with them, one day apart in January 2016, Gillette said.

Shortly after Corvera’s arrest, Whittier police said he had lured the 15-year-old girl into his vehicle while parked in a lot at Sierra Vista High School and driven her to a motel, and then done the same thing the next day with a 14-year-old girl. The girls informed school officials on Jan. 22, 2016, about what had occurred and police were immediately notified.

Corvera was identified as the suspect and taken into custody during a traffic stop in the 10600 block of Scott Avenue, according to police.

He has remained in custody since his Jan. 22, 2016, arrest.
