MONTEREY PARK (CNS) – A man and a teenage boy were arrested on suspicion of committing an armed robbery in Monterey Park, police reported today.

The crime occurred about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of South Atlantic Boulevard, according to the Monterey Park Police Department.

Officers sent to the area after the robbery stopped an SUV matching the description of the getaway vehicle and arrested Alton Phillips, 21, of South Pasadena, and a 16-year-old boy whose name was withheld. Both were booked on suspicion of armed robbery.

“Property, cash, and weapons used during the commission of the robbery were recovered,” according to a police statement.

Phillips was being held on $100,000 bail. Details on the juvenile’s status were not released.
