Authorities are appealing for the public’s help in identifying a girl believed to be between 8 and 13 years old whose body was found partially inside a large duffel bag near an equestrian trail in the Hacienda Heights area.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department released a composite sketch of the girl, who was black, about 4 feet 5 inches tall and 55 pounds. Also released were photos of the pink long-sleeve top with the words “Future Princess Hero” and gray pants with pandas on them that she was wearing when her body was found.
County workers clearing some brush in the area south of Hacienda Boulevard and Glenmark Drive, just below a Buddhist temple, came across the youngster’s remains about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
“These are the hardest cases to handle. Anything involving a child. This is very sad,” Lt. Scott Hoglund said. “The motive at this time is unknown.”
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
