October is National Arts and Humanities Month and Metro Los Angeles is hosting a series of weekend and weeknight events to celebrate the art and culture of the city. Check out these events and get your art on in October.
Saturday, Oct. 6: Meet at the North Hollywood Metro Station for a Red Line rail tour from 10 a.m. to noon.
Sunday, Oct. 7: Art tour of downtown rail stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
Saturday, Oct. 13: Artists Hadley Holliday, Nikko Mueller and Eamon Ore-Giron will lead a tour of the brand-new exhibition Far Out: Movement through Form and Color featuring abstract artwork interpreting themes of energy, transition and movement. Meet at the aquarium in Union Station’s East Portal from 10 – 11 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 13: As a follow up to last week’s tour, Metro presents a downtown art tour in Spanish. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance. Para información en Español.
Sunday, Oct. 14: Meet at the Union Station information kiosk for an in-depth look at the Historic Ticketing Hall, artworks located in the Gold Line Portal, Union Station East and inside the Metro Headquarters Building. Tours start at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday, Oct. 14: Although not sponsored by Metro, the 10th Annual Hollywood Subway Zombie Walk has gained a loyal following over the years. Organized by Hollywood Subway Zombie Walk, this event encourages zombies to gather at the North Hollywood Red Line Station at 4:15 p.m., ride the train to Hollywood and Highland metro stop, and disembark to mingle with tourists on Hollywood Boulevard.
