LOS ANGELES (CNS) – French soccer star Kylian Mbappe will throw the ceremonial first pitch before tonight’s Los Angeles Dodgers-Chicago Cubs game at Dodger Stadium.
Mbappe helped lead France to the 2018 FIFA World Cup championship. His four goals matched the second-highest total of the tournament. At 19 years old, he became the second-youngest player to score a goal in a World Cup final.
U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Joe Mederos will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game. The San Fernando Valley native graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2001 and led combat missions while deployed to Iraq.
Mederos has been stationed in Japan and deployed to the Philippines in an exercise to provide relief from damage caused by Typhoon Haiyan. He will be reassigned in July to the Marine Corps helicopter squadron responsible for transporting President Donald Trump.
Actress Holly Robinson Peete will sing the national anthem.
