Earlier this month hundreds gathered on Santa Monica Boulevard for the West Hollywood Pride Parade. This year marked the 48th parade and included marching bands, the West Hollywood Elite Cheer Squad, city officials and the LGBT Center of Los Angeles. This colorful celebration focused on the theme #JUSTBE and included an original song performed by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.
Hundreds gathered on a cool day to celebrate gay pride. The gathering marked the 48th anniversary of the West Hollywood Parade, which celebrates people of different sexual orientations and gender identities.
“The LA Pride Parade is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of LA’s LGBTQ+ community together,” said Shayne Thomas, Christopher Street West Board of Directors, Marketing and Communications Lead. CSW is a nonprofit organization that focuses on LGBT issues and organizes LA Pride.
“I’m in the midst of figuring out my identity,” said Daisy Infante, 17, who was attending Pride for the first time, with her sister Jenny, 29. “I’m very much in support, I’m very much an ally.”
