The Los Angeles area has a lot to offer and something for every type of dad. Whether looking for an escape from the city, an adventure, a day of relaxation or good eats, there are plenty of unique ways to celebrate. Here are some ideas to show your dad how much you appreciate him.
For the nature-loving dad, grab your binoculars and take him bird watching. It’s free, making it an inexpensive and great way to get in touch with nature. The walk starts at 8 a.m. at the Nature Center.

Fishing is a great way to relax and spend time together. Head on over to the Santa Monica Pier where a fishing license is not necessary to fish. Some of the fish you can catch are perch, mackerel, white sea bass, tiger shark and stingrays.
There is a bait and tackle shop at the end of the pier where you can rent poles and other fishing equipment.

If bowling is right up dad’s alley, take him to Lucky Strike to knock down some pins. Situated across the street from Staples Center at LA Live, Lucky Strike offers 18 neon-lit bowling lanes, plasma TV’s and billiards tables.
Open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Treat dad to some wine tasting at the oldest and only winery in Los Angeles. Still making wine, the San Antonio Winery gets grapes from family-owned vineyards in Monterey, Paso Robles and Napa Valley. Wines include Maddalena, San Simeon, San Antonio and Riboli Family.
In addition to a tasting room, there is a restaurant featuring a variety of Italian food including pasta, grilled meats, salads and sandwiches. San Antonio Winery is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If your dad loves to golf, why not take him out for a round at this oceanfront 9-hole par-3 course? With sweeping ocean views, it’s a perfect spot to spend the day enjoying the fresh air and scenery.

Pasadena Classic Car Show
If the dad in your life loves cars, a car show is a good choice. The Pasadena Police Department hosts its 17th Annual Father’s Day Car Show. The family-friendly event features live music, food booths and raffle prizes. In addition, there will be police equipment demos, raffle prizes and police helicopter ride-along live auction.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 17.
