Southern California offers more than its own fair share of casino resorts, often with more draws than just gambling.
Not sure where to go? Here’s our five favorite southern California casinos to visit this summer.
Pechanga Resort & Casino
Simply put, Pechanga is the gold standard when it comes to California gambling. With over 4,000 slot machines, 154 table games and a bingo room that seats 700, Pechanga is the largest Indian Casino in the state of California. What makes Pechanga stand out is the availability of activities for non-gamblers. Pechanga features a huge golf course, award-winning restaurants and world-famous performers that drop by every so often. Sports fans in particular are likely to fall in love with Pechanga, thanks to live events such as Bellator MMA and professional boxing hosted on-site. Best of all, however, is the RV resort. If you’re looking for a good place to go with your castle-on-wheels, Pechanga has a dedicated area ready to host your RV. Rent one for a long weekend and head to Pechanga for California’s best casino experience.
The Bicycle Hotel & Casino
Interested in a spot closer to home? Try Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens. One of the best reviewed Los Angeles County casinos on PokerAtlas, Bicycle is known for poker. Blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em, Pai Gow and Baccarat are all played at the Bicycle Casino. Bicycle is also known for its East Asian aesthetic, with subtle variations on that theme featuring heavily on the gaming floor, the cocktail lounge, and even the new brewery.
Hollywood Park Casino
Occasional Los Angeles gamblers may be surprised to find this Inglewood landmark on the list, given the construction of the LA Rams stadium. In 2016 the Inglewood landmark got a complete casino overhaul. The transformation has turned the casino into one of L.A.’s best-kept secrets, and with both high-stakes and celebrity games hosted here. Just 3 miles from LAX, it’s not unusual to catch international high-rollers having a good time. Hollywood Park hosts card games at 125 tables, but like Pechanga, there’s more to do here than simply gamble. The sports bar here frequently draws hundreds of guests for major events.
Pala Casino Spa & Resort
Like Pechanga, the distance from major urban centers allows visitors to stretch their legs and see awesome shows, dine at world-class restaurants and gamble to their heart’s content (or at least, their wallet’s). Pala is smaller than Pechanga, boasting only 2,000 slots and 87 table games, but the hotel’s 500 rooms and 82 suites make up for that. Of course, Pala can also make an amazing operating base for groups more interested in exploring the surrounding areas. The hotel is just 5 miles from Wilderness Gardens Park, and 26 miles from Palomar Mountain State Park. Why rough it at a campsite when you can get pampered at Pala?
Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa
Morongo sits just outside of Riverside, and hosts games such as Ultimate Texas Hold’Em, pai gow poker and three-card poker, as well as a 22-table poker room. Fans of slot machines can also try their luck at one of the resort’s more than 2,000 slot machines, and end their day-trip at penthouse restaurant Cielo. Best of all, gamblers need not wait until they are 21 to play here. Minimum age to gamble is just 18 at Morongo.
