10 Freeway bridge sees late night closures for busway project

One of downtown Los Angeles’ busiest arteries shut down late Monday night, as construction crews improve access to Metro’s Patsaouras Bus Plaza Station.

The 10 Freeway Busway Bridge, between Alameda Street and Mission Road in Downtown Los Angeles, will be closed in both eastbound and westbound directions from Monday through Friday this week.

The Patsaouras Plaza Busway Station project will be a new transit busway station for the Metro Silver Line and other transit buses operating on the El Monte Busway, located in the median of the El Monte Busway next to the 101 Freeway.

The new station will allow buses travelling in both directions to serve Union Station quickly and efficiently. Currently, workers have been installing a new pedestrian bridge, lighting and closed circuit TV systems, and new connections to Metro, Metrolink, and Amtrak trains.
