15-story HangTime roller coaster debuts today

Buena Park might be the place to be for thrill seekers this weekend when Knott’s unveils California’s steepest roller coaster.

Known as HangTime, the coaster will send riders up a vertical lift hill into a 96-degree drop.

En route to a 15-story drop, the coaster’s train will come to a halt once the highest peak is reached, and will leave riders suspended at the crest for several seconds at a 60-degree angle, giving the illusion of a disappearing track.

“The coaster continues Knott’s legacy in rollercoaster innovation and industry firsts; the park introduced the very first corkscrew inversion rollercoaster with Corkscrew, and the first flywheel launch coaster with Montezooma’s Revenge,” park officials said in a statement.
