LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Authorities today identified a man who was killed along with a woman when their car collided with a pickup truck in South Los Angeles.
The crash occurred about 6:35 p.m. May 29 at Avalon Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Jerome Dunn, 27, of Los Angeles died at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office and the CHP. Taylor Coates, 20, of Buena Park died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.
According to the CHP, Dunn, accompanied by Coates, was driving a Ford Mustang south on Avalon Boulevard when he made a left turn onto eastbound Rosecrans Avenue directly into the path of a Toyota Tacoma that was northbound on Avalon Boulevard.
The front end of the Toyota collided with the passenger side of the Mustang, causing the car to go out of control and hit a metal signal pole on the northeast corner of the intersection, ejecting the man and woman in the Mustang onto the sidewalk, the CHP reported..
The driver of the Toyota, a 24-year-old man from Los Angeles, was not seriously injured. His name was not released.
