Heavy-duty diesel trucks are the biggest source of nitrogen-oxide pollution in the nation. In California, with three of the nation’s busiest ports, air quality has resurfaced as a major concern.
But truck manufacturers are aware of the concerns and are considering several ways to cut emissions, including electrification.
“We are seeing a lot of innovations (in the heavy-duty truck sector) happening right now,” Matt Miyasato, deputy executive officer-science and technology advancement at the South Coast Air Quality Management District, told WardAuto.
