Artists will paint the town red, green, blue and every color of the rainbow this Saturday as part of the inaugural event, BoldPas: An Art Takeover of Old Pasadena. This event will feature works from L.A artists and 12 site-specific installations throughout the 22 blocks of Old Pasadena.
This one-day event combines design, architecture, art, history, and public space to highlight the diversity of the city and engage the community. Many art pieces will include interactive elements as part of the “bold” theme. Expect life-sized cacti gardens, papier-mache pet sculptures, art made from plastic straws and plenty of unique photo opportunities.
Selected local artists – Maggie Chiang; Amy Van Gilder; Liten Kanin; Vivien Mildenberger; Valerie Pobjoy; Lena Sayadian; Joey Stupor; and Yetis & Friends – will also work on pop-up canvases throughout the city and give visitors a sneak peak into their creative process. Visitors can also watch Andrew Hem, a renowned L.A painter, complete a mural in Mercantile Alley.
BoldPas is hosted by Old Pasadena Management District. The event is free and open to the public and takes place on Saturday, August 12 from 12 pm.m to 8 p.m.
