Congressional NDAA amendment targets BYD, alleges Lancaster manufacturer


Congress announced late Tuesday the latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act would include a provision barring federal dollars from being used to purchase passenger rail cars or buses from state-owned or state-controlled enterprises, such as those from China.

BYD, one of the largest electric bus manufacturers in the United States, spoke out on Tuesday regarding the legislation. A spokesman for the company called the move terrible news for Lancaster workers. BYD is one of the largest employers in the formerly Antelope Valley struggling city.
