Construction began Thursday on the long-awaited Automated People Mover at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The train system is expected to connect travelers directly to airport terminals and reduce traffic.
Mayor Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles City Councilmember Mike Bonin, Los Angeles County Supervisors Janice Hahn and Mark Ridley-Thomas, and community and labor leaders were at the LAX groundbreaking ceremony. Garcetti said that the Automated People Mover was just a taste of what Angelenos could expect for the future of transit in Los Angeles.
