SANTA FE SPRINGS (CNS) – A homeless man was found dead today near a riverbed in Santa Fe Springs.
Officers were dispatched about 7:50 a.m. to investigate a report of a person down in the area of 13201 Barton Circle and found the man’s body, according to Officer John Scoggins of the Whittier Police Department, which patrols Santa Fe Springs.
“The fire department pronounced the subject deceased and the detective bureau was called out for the investigation,” Scoggins said. “No cause of death could be determined at this time pending an autopsy.”
The man’s name was withheld pending notification of his next-of-kin.
“The decedent is described as a 53-year-old male and was homeless, living off the riverbed near where he was discovered,” Scoggins said.
