The Los Angeles City Council plans to develop its own version of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.
The move is part of an effort to take more aggressive local actions on Climate Change, authorities said.
To that end, Councilmembers Nury Martinez, Paul Koretz, Mike Bonin, Curren Price, Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Monica Rodriguez recently introduced a motion that would direct the Department of Water and Power and other city departments to prepare a report on the development of a local version of Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.
“We’re out of time,” Koretz said last year. “We can’t keep waiting around thinking, once it gets bad enough, we’ll have enough time to do something.”
