Pasadena’s annual festival of books is returning to the Crown City for the eighth consecutive year. Sponsored by local businesses such as Vroman’s Bookstore and Zona Rosa Coffee, as well as Pasadena community organizations, LitFest Pasadena will be held on May 18 and 19 in the Playhouse District.
This year’s LitFest will be dedicated to late food critic and author Jonathan Gold, who frequently participated in the festival before his death last year.
More than 200 authors and special guests will appear at panels, discussions, readings, workshops, performances, and other literary activities over the weekend. Additionally, the Roswell Award and Tomorrow Prize for best new science-fiction stories will be presented at LitFest.
Panels will include presentations and discussions on the role of race and gender both on paper and in the literary industry, how to get published successfully, advice on recording podcasts and audiobooks, and more.
LitFest Pasadena is held throughout the historic Playhouse District at Vroman’s Bookstore, the Pasadena Playhouse, and other local establishments within walking distance. Festival activities are all offered free of charge.
