A multi-car accident on the 210 Freeway partially closed westbound traffic lanes and halted train service this morning.
The crash on the freeway was reported to California Highway Patrol at 1:28 a.m. and involved an overturned FedEx truck. Helicopters could be heard circling the area at 5 a.m. while construction teams worked to clear the tracks and reopen the freeway.
Officials reopened two westbound lanes at about 2:20 a.m., but traffic delays continued as of 4 a.m. as the truck remained overturned on the freeway, according to a report by KTLA.
According to Metro service ambassadors, the crash caused “major damage” to rail lines and it is unclear how long it will take to get the trains running on schedule. Metro public relations officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Free shuttle buses began operation at 4 a.m. and will continue to replace Gold Line service between Memorial Park and Allen Station until the issue is resolved. Shuttle buses are labeled 800 Memorial Park Station.
