Visitors to one of Southern California’s most beloved holiday traditions will have more options this year than ever before, thanks to Metrolink. The commuter train agency will offer special train service from Union Station on select dates to the Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn in Riverside.
From Nov. 29 to Dec. 21, Metrolink will offer Friday and Saturday train service to the Riverside – Downtown station from stations along the 91/Perris Valley and Inland Empire-Orange County lines.
Round-trip tickets will cost $7, while children 18 years and under ride free. There will be a free shuttle from Downtown Riverside Station to the Mission Inn.
The Festival of Lights opens Thanksgiving weekend and runs through the first week of January. The event will see the Mission Inn decked out in one of the nation’s largest holiday light collections of its kind. The Festival of Lights has operated during holiday season for 27 years, has been named “Best Public Holiday Lights Display in the Nation” by USA Today and attracts more than 500,000 visitors each year, according to the Mission Inn.
The Festival of Lights will also feature an extensive array of shops, musical performances and other attractions.
