If you’re doing some last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve, or heading to a New Year’s party next week, Metro might be the way to save some dough. All Metro bus and rail lines will be free on the nights of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. There will be no charge for riders between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. on both nights.
Metro Rail stations with latched gates will be unlatched during this time, and Metro will run 24-hour rail service on New Year’s Eve.
Rose Parade attendees can also expect enhanced service to Pasadena on Jan. 1, with more information coming down the pipeline next week. Pasadena residents should take note – Colorado Boulevard will close to motor vehicles starting at 10:00 p.m. Dec. 31 and will remain closed through the conclusion of the staging and clean-up following the parade.
Metro lines will run on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, despite both falling on Tuesdays this year. Bus lines that not operating on Sundays won’t run on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.
Additionally, some Metro Bus lines may be impacted by detours due to holiday events. Check out Metro’s Planned Service Advisories page to see if your line will be detouring and for detailed bus routes.
