TORRANCE (CNS) – A 34-year-old man suffered major injuries this morning when he stepped in front of a motorist, who had the green light while traveling down Pacific Coast Highway in Torrance, authorities said.
The motorist was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion going westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at Calle Mayor when the pedestrian — outside of the crosswalk — crossed in front of the car, said Sgt. Ronald Harris of the Torrance Police Department.
Police were dispatched to the scene a little after 1:45 a.m. The driver of the Ford, a 58-year-old woman, was not injured, Harris said.
The pedestrian, a resident of Torrance, was taken to an area hospital with major injuries, he said. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor regarding the driver, he said.
Torrance police asked anyone who saw the incident to call them at 310-328-3456.
