Southland average gas prices drop to lowest amount since March

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 43rd consecutive day, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.519, its lowest amount since March 22.

The average price has dropped 35.8 cents over the past 43 days, including 1.2 cents on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 9.3 cents less than one week ago and 27.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 32.9 cents more than one year ago. It has risen 36.9 cents since the start of the year.

The streak of decreases is the longest since a 92-day run from Oct. 2, 2014-Jan. 1, 2015.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 41st time in 42 days today, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.47, its lowest amount since March 21. It has dropped by 35.3 cents over the past 42 days, including 1.8 cents on Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 8.9 cents less than one week ago and 27 cents lower than one month ago, but 33.7 cents more than one year ago. It has risen 35.4 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price dropped for 27 consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Nov. 21, then resumed declining the following day.
