Whittier teen killed in Diamond Bar freeway crash Monday morning


DIAMOND BAR (CNS) – Authorities today identified a teen who was killed when the car he was driving drifted off the side of the Pomona (60) Freeway in the Diamond Bar area and crashed into a tree.
Handsome Hernandez, 17, of Whittier died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 4:20 a.m. Monday south of Diamond Bar Boulevard, according to the coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol.
Hernandez was driving a 2005 Honda Civic at an unknown speed when the car drifted to the right, went across the Diamond Bar Boulevard onramp lane and hit the tree, the CHP reported. Hernandez was the lone occupant of the car.
Alcohol appeared to have been a factor in the crash, the CHP reported.
